1.OVERVIEW:


  The basic functions of the Department  have been made available from the first  day of functioning of the Government Tiruvannamalai Medical College and Hospital, Tiruvannamalai in 22.08.2013, with requisite faculty and infrastructure  stipulations .Over the subsequent period, till now, as per the guidelines and principles laid down in MCI regulations and the norms of the Tamil Nadu Dr.MGR Medical University,with the constant support and encouragement of the Government of Tamil Nadu, the department has been documenting  a progressive pace of growth in the spheres of  development,  academic activities.
    We also conduct seminars and integrated teaching programmes for students.  In each batch about 100 students are being trained efficiently.  Our students participate in various inter and intra college activities like Quiz, Power Point presentation etc., in pharmacology.  Periodic internal assessment tests and model practical are also being conducted for the students.
Our staff members are also trained in Medical Education technologies and they teach students clinical pharmacology, therapeutics and evidence based medicine.
Our students learn basic injection techniques, I.V., Infusion techniques, emergency medicine dosage calculation etc., in the II year itself.

3.ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES
Apart from regular classes and practical, Pharmacovigilance programme is actively functioning in our department.  Under this ADR reporting form are sent to various clinical departments.  Reports are collected periodically and analyzed. The main aim of our Pharmaco Vigilance Programme is to detect, assess, understand and prevent adverse drug reaction and other health related problems to drugs.
          Prescription audit is also being undertaken by the department of Pharmacology and reports are submitted periodically.  Prescription audit will help in designing essential drug list and rationale prescribing in our hospital.
 

4.PERIODIC ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES:
            Seminars, Symposium, micro teaching small group teaching, integrated teaching classes are the other periodic academic activities being conducted in the department.

5.LIBRARY:
            Our library contain  books on various topics like pharmacology, Clinical Pharmacology, applied therapautics etc., The number of books are kept as per MCI norms.  Various Indian as well as International Journals are also available.  Spacious reading hall is also present.

6..MUSEUM:
            Our museum contain
