Types of Surgeries performed:

Obstetric emergencies include caesarean hysterectomy, Hypogasteric artery ligation for PPH, Bladder injury repair, Anal sphincteric injuries repair.

A. Gynaecological surgeries include Simple hysterectomy (abdominal, vaginal, laparoscopic assisted vaginal hysterectomy), Wertheims hysterectomy
B. Conisation of cervix, Nondescent vaginal hysterectomy

 

C. Pelvic Reconstructive surgeries:
 1. Site specific defect repair for cystocele, rectocele
2. Manchester Surgery
3. Apical suspension procedures like

a.Mc”Calls culdoplasty, 

b.High Uterosacral ligament suspension 

c.Sacrospinous fixation

d.Iliococcygeus fixation

e.Abdominal sacrohysteropexy & sacrocolpopexy

f.Colpocleiesis 

 C. Anti incontinence procedures : 

1. Mid urethral sling
2. Pubovaginal sling 

 

D. Vesico vaginal fistula & Rectovaginal fistula repair

 

 

 Academic activites: 

The department regularly conducts  CME. The recent CME was “ Anoverview on Pelvic organ prolapse”. The department also conducts symposium for MBBS students. The recent symposium was on “ Physiology of menstruation & Ovulation” & Anatomy of Pelvic floor.

Poster presentation on “HPV Vaccine” was done at CMC, Vellore International Obstetric & Gynaecology conference on 28.8.15 & 29.8.15
